47 – Love’s Kitchen (2011)

Valentine’s Day is coming up so we wanted something lovely; we watched Love’s Kitchen (2011) instead.

We crack open this pretty-much-made-for-TV-movie and try to figure out what is going on. Why are people eating desserts with two fingers? Why is the daughter cast 7 years older than written? Why would you name your restaurant “The Boot”?!

45 – Waiting…(2005)

Do raunchy comedies like 2005’s Waiting… hold up? No. No they don’t.

This movie’s a real mixed-bag. We talk about the problematic pedophilia & homophobia baked into this cult classic, but also the incredibly accurate & hilarious portrayals of the food service industry. We also discuss tipping culture & the ennui of waiting tables day in and day out.

31 – Delicatessen (1991)

This week Sophie & Mitch watched the cult French film Delicatessen (1991).

Ho-boy what a movie: an apartment building full of weirdos atop a butcher shop after some sort of apocalypse. It’s super odd, super French, and super fun. If you need more strangeness this Halloween, this is the movie for you.
