Animorphs #37: The Weakness

Finally back into some good ol’ Animorphs books! This week on The Dork-Bajir Chronicles we read Animorphs #37: The Weakness, the one where Rachel gets to be boss for once! Spoiler: she’s not as good as Jake.

This is also the one with the not-quite-an-Andalite, Sonic the Hedgehog alien that is apparently going to be a member of the Council of Thirteen for some reason.

TV Series: Episode 21

We’re back for Part 3 of Face Off, the season-spanning trilogy that ends…well, pretty much how you’d expect something like this to end. We talk body twinning and basketball games on this week’s episode of The Dork-Bajir Chronicles!

Thank god Jarred is back once again to save us from this nightmare.

TV Series: Episode 20

Part 2, baby! We jump back into the epic trilogy that is the Animorphs TV series arc called Face Off. This is episode 20 of the first season and Part 3 is episode 1 of season 2. Hopefully that gives you a good indication of how terribly organized this series is.

Part 2 brings us a continuation of the heat-hating Yeerks, the Big Basketball Game, and many more fairly inconsequential things. Yay.

Per the norm, we are joined again by Jarred!

TV Series: Episode 19

We’re back at it, folks: time to tackle yet another episode of the masterpiece that is the Animorphs TV Series. This time we talk about episode 19 called Face Off: Part 1. There are three parts to this arc and, not surprisingly, there aren’t really any face offs to speak of in the whole thing. This is also yet another showing of how terrible TV show Ax is.

Oh also, Jarred will be joining us, as usual!

TV Series: Episode 18

We’re still chipping away at this block, people. Today we talk about the Animorphs TV series once again, this time about Episode 18: The Release, the one where the Kandrona is busted and Tom has a sore tummy because of it.

Also, this is the one with the kind of badass teacher who has a weird understanding with Jake and the rest of the bandits.

The Speaking Tree: Animorphs #36

We’re talking fishy sea creatures in our Speaking Tree episode about Animorphs #36, the Nartec expedition with creepy human being dolls.

This week we answer the following questions:

How would you have taken down the Sea Blade?

How would you use morphing to get your crush to call you at all hours of the night?

How would you use an orca morph in your own life for purely personal reasons?

Animorphs #36: The Mutation

We dive into another salty episode of The Dork-Bajir Chronicles where we discuss Animorphs #36: The Mutation, the book where they find an underwater race of creatures who…stuff…humans?

We talk about the development (or lack thereof) of Jake’s character throughout the series, dumb YA parables, and how awesome it was when the one whale got sliced in half.

The Speaking Tree: Visser

We dive back into Visser once again for this episode of The Speaking Tree! Brayden couldn’t take the heat so he’s away this week as Mikael and Tessa get real about some of the important plot points in this amazing side story.

Questions we answered this week:

In a world where Memory Dumps are a thing, how would you have hid the fact that you are trying to protect two humans from the invasion?

How would you deal with your Host (and yourself) falling in love with another Host (and the Yeerk inside it)?

How would you use a Yeerk morph in your own life for purely personal reasons?

Visser: Part Two

We’re back to discuss the Animorphs sidestory Visser one more time! Last week we went over the plot of the book and this week we discuss our thoughts on the story!

We try to pick apart some of the political messages in the book and try to decide what we’re okay with and what we’re not. Spoiler alert: we don’t come to a conclusive answer.

Visser: Part One

This week we talk about the infamous side story: Visser! This is the one where we learn the backstory of Visser One (the slug) and how her story intertwines with the Animorphs…in more ways than one.

Since the plot in this book is thicc af, we split our discussion episode into two parts. In Part One we’ll go over the summary of the book and in Part Two (next week), we’ll jump into some more in depth discussion of particular aspects we enjoyed/disliked/wanted to dig deeper into. Then, as usual, we’ll have our Speaking Tree for Visser the following week.
