Ancestry Makes It Okay

CHECK THE AD OUT HERE: https://goo.gl/mQyCMX

The big bad ad wranglers are back for another round of destruction and reconstruction! This week, Quinn and Mikael talk white people racism in their discussion of “AncestryDNA brings neighbours together,” an ad for Ancestry.ca.

We talk about unnecessary skating rinks, irresponsible home ownership, and weirdly strong hockey kids. This episode has it all: suspense, racial tension, even humor!

Tartar Loss

Our precious ad jockeys kick it into high gear this episode as they dissect and resurrect the infamous “Favourites” ad that was pulled from the air in the UK.

If your dad loved fish fillets, liked techno, and was a soccer star, this commercial’s for you! Also, he needs to be dead. Find out why this ad was pulled from the air and what Quinn and Mikael could have done to keep it running on this very special episode of inADmissible! Oh yeah, they also eat a Fillet-o-Fish on this one, extra tartar sauce.

Gag.

Like a Surgeon

CHECK OUT THE AD HERE: https://goo.gl/NDh7LF

On this episode of inADmissible, Quinn and Mikael unpack a very special ad: “Lock Surgeon: A World of Security.”

Jam packed with slow-mo analysis, backing track rewrites, and, as usual, a better version of the original ad, this episode is sure to please all you locksmithing fans out there, all seven of you. Are you interested in the secret world of underground locksmithing assassins? How about the plot to the new NBC drama, “Detective L. Smith”? Stay tuned for answers to these questions and more!

The backing track used in this episode was “Fake” by Eme Hache licenced under Creative Commons 4.0

Saksting Emergency

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S AD HERE.

Mikael and Quinn dive into a rather odd Saks Fifth Avenue ad this time on inADmissible: “Saks Save Me.”

We talk about models, when is the right time to use emojis, and how to name a hipster business all while building this terrible ad back up into something functional. Quinn lets loose his marketing savvy as he blasts through an haute-couture ad that would knock your socks off, then pick out new socks, then put them on your feet, thereby creating a wonderful night for you and your friends!

BONUS EPISODE: Superbowl 2018

In this very special bonus episode of inADmissible, Mikael and Quinn watch the Superbowl ads live and comment on them as the game plays on mute in the background!

We wade through some real clunkers like the weird Kia ad that implies that Steve Tyler is sad about not being famous anymore as well as some gems like the recurring and ever-hilarious “Nope, this is a Tide ad” spots. As the Eagles and Patriots wage war, we do the same. The only difference: ours is funny and not fraught with weird touchdown rules and bad Prince projections.

Hnnng Henry!

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S AD HERE.

Quinn and Mikael take on the majesty of a brown chocolate lump as they watch Oh Henry’s “Oh Canada Bar” tv ad on this episode of inADmissible!

Our ad boys struggle with poop fetishes, the history of beer commercials, and general disgust as they wade through this eighties throwback. We discover the story of a burnt out rocker who’s had to hang up his denim and trade in for corduroys…but might just be looking for something to fill that hole in his life.

Hang on to your baseball caps and beer coolers, because this one’s a doozy.

Ingestion Erection

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S AD HERE.

Mikael takes us on a sexual odyssey after watching Mellow Mushroom Pizza Baker’s poorly executed “Clinically Proven 30” tv ad.

This ad, an awkwardly-delivered parody of a Viagra commercial, does so many things wrong, we barely have time to list them all. From creepy threesome doctors to the tragic demise of Herb and Carnie, this episode is rife with psychoanalysis and general fetishisms.

With some context, we manage to make this into something serviceable, although…do you really need edgy ads to sell pizza? EVERYONE ALREADY LIKES PIZZA.

Business Surfers

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S AD HERE.

Welcome to inADmissible, a podcast about bad ads and how to fix them! In our inaugural episode, we talk about Lexus Canada’s misguided dramatic venture: “Elevated.”

We go over the multiple ways this ad completely fails to sell us a Lexus including the strange multi-timeline narrative, the inexcusable and baffling lack of actual surfing, and the absence of featured features.

Like in all inADmissible episodes, we build this ad back up from nothing, crafting it into something that might actually succeed in selling the product it was intended to sell. Unfortunately, this leads us down some dark paths such as a sinister murder plot and a hail Mary toss at the back of a Suicide Prevention playbook..
