The Speaking Tree: Animorphs #34

Welcome back to The Speaking Tree, the show where we take a deeper dive into the Animorphs universe! This week we’ll be talking about Animorphs #34: The Prophecy, the Cassie book where her brain gets inhabited by the ghost of Aldrea!

We talk about:

How would you have gotten the Yeerk fighter out from under the tree/Yeerk pool?

How would you use morphing to erase a doodle you made on a piece of homework?

How would you use a wolf morph in your own life for purely personal reasons?

Animorphs #34: The Prophecy

This week we read Animorphs #34: The Prophecy, the Cassie book where they leave Earth once again, this time with the ghost of Aldrea in Cassie’s head!

We talk about the difference between “biology” and “science” and whether or not there actually is a difference, some serious OTP Alerts all around, and the ridiculousness of getting the Chee to cover for you every time you leave the planet.

CW: Game of Thrones involves lots of violence, sexual violence, and the like, so heads-up as we’re talking about the whole series.

We’re back with another episode of The Speaking Tree, this time talking about Animorphs #33: The Illusion! Get ready for a deeper dive into the book where Tobias gets tortured and the gang saves him at the last second. Here are some of the things we covered this week:

How would you purposefully have gotten caught by the Yeerks?

How would you get out of getting caught smoking at school?

How would you use an Andalite morph in your own life for purely personal reasons?

The Running Man (1987) w. Joel Taras

Ep. 87

The 2019-set movies keep coming with the Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle The Running Man (1987). Joel Taras is here to talk about it!

We discuss how close we are to having a national deathmatch gameshow in our own timeline, because we’re really not that far off. Also lots of sweet Arnie-isms, quaint 80’s technology, and how – once again – scifi from the late 80’s really hit the nail on the head when it comes to assuming we’d be in a dystopia by now.

CW: sexual violence – Because it’s an 80’s action movie, there’s 2 scenes in particular that revolve around (the threat of) assault that we discuss.
