Live from the Gardens: The Departure

Strap in for some transformative discussion of the caterpillar and the butterfly, the two main morphs we saw in Animorphs #19: The Departure!

What kind of danger do caterpillars pose to humans? What’s the difference between a butterfly and moth chrysalis? How do butterflies taste stuff? Find out the answer to this and many more questions on this metamorphic episode of Live from the Gardens!

Hypothetical Question of the Week: If you could pupate and come out the other side as someone else, who would that person be?

33 – Cheese w. Nick Eaton

Nick Eaton is back and he’s cheesier than ever – cause we’re talking about cheese.

We explain how cheese became a building block to our lives, we run through some historical cheese trivia, we discuss some of our favourite methods of putting cheese in your face hole. 32 – Rainbow Connection Edmonton – LIVE from Spiritual Seekers in United Community

Woo-wee! Our first live episode at the Rainbow Connection Edmonton All Ages Dance Party hosted by the Spiritual Seekers United in Community (SSUC). I sat down with anyone willing to chat about their experience with Rainbow Connection & what they were doing there that night.

I spoke with the 3 core members of Rainbow Connection Edmonton: Shawn Gray, Zoe Chaytors, & Kavita Sundar about their roles-n-goals for the event.
I spoke with first-time attendee Joshua Misener about holding space within yourself and going to spaces held by others.
I spoke with Kyle Fairall of Queerflex: a non-profit LGBTQIA2S+ gym & fitness group.
I spoke with “Worm Dance Instructor” Patti Daye from the City of Edmonton Master Composter Recycler Program to talk about Worm Composting.
Please make sure to check out all these fine human beings and the work that they do!

Back to the Future IV: Dream On

CHECK OUT THE AD HERE: https://goo.gl/7KTmqg.

Quinn and Mikael, your two trusty tradesmen of the marketing world, take a poke at Kia’s “Feel Something Again” ad that aired during the 2018 Superbowl.

Our heroes tear down this atrocious and misguided ad while simultaneously reflecting on the fact that, yes, they also are getting old. The difference between our ad boys and the featured Steve Tyler: they’re not super, super, super, super rich and famous.

Daredevil 2003

My friend Taylor enters the basement and we review 2003’s Daredevil! Sorry not the series. We talk about how terrible Colin Farrell is. And how terrible Ben Affleck is. And Jennifer Garner. There is a lot bad with this movie. But the podcast was fun! That’s all that matters right?

Animorphs #19: The Departure

Tune in this week as The Dork-Bajir Chronicles covers Animorphs #19: The Decision, the one where Cassie decides to leave the Animorphs and trusts a Yeerk way too much!

We dig into the real nitty gritty of the series in what is probably the best Cassie book to date. As she befriends a Controller and even protects her enemy from harm, the Fanimorphs go back and forth over the philosophy of the war and the series itself.

Also, don’t worry: there’s plenty of stupid jokes to tide you over the serious parts.

Here is Mattingly’s original sketch of the cover art, as we discussed this episode: goo.gl/xomt5e

31 – Ghosts w. Devin Smith

Oh so spooky! Devin Smith is here to get down with the spirits, however they may choose to manifest.

We discuss some of the most famous local haunts and why they may or may not be true; we break down our favourite ghost stories; we talk about our own spooky experiences – ghostly or otherwise.

You can let Devin know about what kind of ghost you would be at her Twitter!

30 – Marvel & DC Movies w. Joel Taras

We’re not playing around here. Joel Taras & I sit down to compare our lists ranking ALL of the live-action Marvel and DC comic book movies. That’s right: 82 movies across 7 decades of film-making all broken down in a totally appropriate amount of time to be spent talking about superhero movies.

So strap in and get ready to dive into a conversation that’s almost three times longer than a bunch of movies on this list. Can’t imagine a better way to catch up before Avengers: Infinity War!

Here are the lists.
Ask Joel about more comic book things via his Instagram!

Spearheaded by the all-knowing dinosaur expert Scottie of the Thagomizers Youtube channel, our stalwart heroes dive into a mega-dino quiz this week on Live from the Gardens!

Mikael takes a backseat and joins the huddled masses as Scottie quizzes the Fanimorphs and delivers more information than any other episode of Live from the Gardens ever has. Tune in to learn more about Pteranodons and other dinos that are hard to spell!

29 – Pizza w. Sophie Gareau-Brennan

Who else but Sophie Gareau-Brennan could be on the show to talk about how much we love pizza?!

We break down our favourite kinds of pizzas/toppings; we discuss the differences between all the local & international pizza joints; we reveal our own personal pizza histories; all of it as a way to show how much we truly love this glorious category of food.

Perhaps Sophie and I will talk more about food in the future. Perhaps you could begin following us talking about food on Twitter.
