Animorphs #16: The Warning

This week the Fanimorphs talk rhinos, rich folks, and mid-nineties internet connections in their discussion of Animorphs #16: The Warning.

Do you think Jeff Bezos is richer than Joe Bob Fenestre? Did you know fitey777 has a real website in the real world? Do you think Mikael should have edited out that one part where Tessa blows her nose? Find out this week on The Dork-Bajir Chronicles!

14 – Horror Movies w. Erika Ashton

ooOOoo! It’s a spooky episode, with guest Erika Ashton, as we go through our 15-ish favourite horror movies.

We discuss why we love the horror genre and what makes a good (or bad) horror movie. We spoil a ton of old movies that you should probably already have seen by now. We provide you listeners with an appropriate amount of horror homework (32+ movies to watch). Most importantly, we shout out the spectacular final resting place for Edmonton movie rentals: The Lobby where you can get so many of the movies we talked about and more; or you can just go chat with the equally-spectacular Kevin in-store or via the dark magicks of the Interweb.

Don’t forget to visit Erika’s lovely Instagrams or here if you too want to get into the horror conversation!

13 – Libertine Fragrance w. Josh Smith

Our lovely guest for this episode is modern day alchemist Josh Smith; the man behind Libertine Fragrance. He’s here to tell us all about his journey into the smell game and his resulting brand, which he accurately describes as “fragrance for sensual enjoyment.”

Josh lays out how he gets from an idea, to a candle-lit laboratory filled with small bottles of smelly things, and then to a crafted & packaged product made for those who’d like a little bit of heart to their scent. So if you’ve ever wanted to learn about the invisible art of smells, the tension between artistry & branding, or that there are worse perfume ingredients than cat butt gland, then this is the episode for you!

Please go visit Josh’s site https://www.libertine-fragrance.com/ in order to smell as wonderfully as I personally do – probably even better, as I only have 1 perfume, so you should probably get at least 2. Also check out Mr. Smith’s Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/libertine_fragrance/) if you’d like something a more saucy.

Live from the Gardens: The Escape

This week on Live from the Gardens we talk parrots and hammerhead sharks, the two morphs from Animorphs #15: The Escape!

We talk electroreception, parrot marriage, and lots more on this very special episode. What makes it special? Well, there’s been a change to the rules that’ll be sure to keep you on your toes. What change is that, you ask? I’ll never tell!

Hypothetical Question of the Week: which animal would you rather be if turning into that animal meant you had to marry the other host of Fanimorphs?

12 – Video Games & Speedruns w. Lance Mudryk

In the chair today is none other than video game speedrunner, among other things, Lance Mudryk. He’s here to give us a crash course on the Speedrun community: what they do, why they do it, and how one goes from casual gamer to shaving seconds off a GoldenEye run.

We define a bunch of video game terms, discuss why speedrunners tend to focus on older/retro games, and reminisce about Justin.tv – or as you younglings might now it as Twitch.

If you’d like to take a look at Lance’s first world record you can do so here (https://rankings.the-elite.net/~Taber/time/143194) or see all of his Speedrun-goodness here (https://rankings.the-elite.net/~Taber).

11 – Poetry w. Liam Coady

Poet Liam Coady stops by to talk about art, poetry, and generously offers us an exclusive sneak-peek of his upcoming book: ‘This Love is Mad Reciprocal’, featuring 2 performed poems by the man himself.

We explore the relationship between spoken & written word; we bear witness to the artifacts of creative impulses; we discuss how a book of poems can feel like a mixtape or playlist; and we strive to record despite the efforts of the Illuminati & the Ghosts of Self-Promotion!

Liam’s book is available February 22, 2018 via Glass Buffalo (https://www.glassbuffalo.com/), or you can check out his release party that night at The Sewing Machine Factory (https://www.facebook.com/events/1597088990385775/). You can reach Mr. Coady via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/liamcoadypoetry/), Twitter (https://twitter.com/TheLocoCoyote), or Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/liam_pcoady/).

Saksting Emergency

CHECK OUT THIS WEEK’S AD HERE.

Mikael and Quinn dive into a rather odd Saks Fifth Avenue ad this time on inADmissible: “Saks Save Me.”

We talk about models, when is the right time to use emojis, and how to name a hipster business all while building this terrible ad back up into something functional. Quinn lets loose his marketing savvy as he blasts through an haute-couture ad that would knock your socks off, then pick out new socks, then put them on your feet, thereby creating a wonderful night for you and your friends!

Animorphs #15: The Escape

The Fanimorphs are at it again, this time with another book by our good good comedy boy: Marco! This week, our wonderful hosts discuss Animorphs #15: The Escape, the one where they have to fight off cyborg sharks!

Get ready for a full breakdown of what the hell Ax’s tail is made of, Tessa’s newfound vampirism, and, finally, another Visser Three Morph Minute! For those wondering: yes, Tessa is now fully a vampire and can’t walk through the threshold of a home without being invited in.

10 – Art & Craft w. Nick Eaton

Our guest today is none other than hobbyist & house-painting wunderkind Nick Eaton, here to discuss the relationship between building a thing – whether that thing is a chair, a painting, or a business – and art.

We talk about art as a product and a process, that perhaps ‘craft’ is the application of skill, how Nick’s theatrical school led him to start his own painting company, and the best place to get pedestal sinks for your theatrical production! All of this and more for your waiting ears.

You can follow Nick on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/oddballeaton/) if you’d like to see the things he builds, or if you need some commercial painting expertise.
